Hale Carnival was originally started in the 1970s, and ran very successfully until 1995. At this time, it ran out of steam, and a lack of new blood to the committee meant its untimely demise.
Then in early 2002, a small band of dedicated people called a meeting, and the seeds of a new committee was born. With much fanfare, the all new Hale Carnival hit the streets again in July 2003, and we are now going into our 9th increasingly successful year!
By 2005, pretty much the whole of the village was in on the act. The Methodist Church ran an exhibition on Hale, while an Art Exhibition of local artists was on display in the Institute. Over 20 groups and organisations took part in the main procession, and a wide variety of music acts and events took place on the green during the day.
Every year since 2002, we have been able, thanks to the generosity of local people, to donate thousands of pounds to local charities and organisations in the area.
It is nothing without its committee and associated band of helpers. The Committee is elected every
October / November at the AGM.
